Installation Tips

Typically skunks/groundhogs will dig a hole and get under a deck, shed or flowerbed. Find the main entry hole, dig the ground (if possible) about 12″ deep by 12″ width. Take a material such as screening and cut it into size and bend it like a “L” shape. Place it in the area you are trying to protect. Cut a hole (max 7″x7″) and install the one way using zip ties or wire. Put the soil back on except the part where the one way door is. Wait a few days and check for any new damage/hole. If everything is ok, remove the door and seal the area with screening. Put the remaining soil back on.

During baby season (May-Aug) check the nest for babies. They need to be removed physically before installing the one way door. They need to be reunited with their mother outside. Place them in a temporary box and place them close to the hole. If you can’t remove them, you will have to wait until they are fully mobile (coming out of the hole), before you can install the door.
